Double page spread body copy

Ryan Arnold is an upcoming very successful young artist from Welwyn garden city Hertfordshire. Ryan has just hit number one in the charts with a song from his new album " One of a kind". One of a kind is Ryan's first album and has already been very successful, with 5 songs charting and one being number one. Ryan is just 19 years old and is currently studying music at university, while also doing his music on the side. we were lucky enough at pop monthly to have an interview with |Ryan. here is what we said to him:

Hi Ryan, first of all thank you very much for coming today, second of all how happy are you with the success of your new album "one of a kind"?

" No thank you for inviting me down. I`m not only pleased I'm so proud of how far my music career has come, from starting 10 years ago as a hobby and now I'm in the charts and doing this as my job, its a dream come true really. One of a kind is a great album in my opinion and I really enjoyed writing and producing it, definitely a great experience."

Ryan how old were you when you knew you wanted to do this as a career?

"Well as I said before I started this as a hobby 10 years ago but when I was around 13-14 years old I really knew this was what I wanted. I started getting high grades in music at my secondary school, so when this happened I just knew it was for me. When I was 16 i started producing music and releasing it on soundcloud and this is where I started to gain popularity and kicked off my career really, when I was 17 i dropped my first album on spotify and it got 5000 listens in the first month so that was a big step for me.  At 18 is where I really gained popularity as one of my new songs went viral on tik tok and brought attention to my 2nd album which was new at the time, I started getting 100,000 plus listeners a month. Now at 19 i've just released my third album and im getting 7,000,000 plus listeners a month which is crazy to think, so I always knew at a young age this was for me."

Did you like growing up in Welwyn Garden city?

"Yeah definitely, had a great community, and have a lot of great friends there. I went to school there as well so spent all my childhood in and around welwyn, so I definitely enjoyed growing up there. School was good there as well, I went to a school called monks walk, it was a great school and enjoyed going there very much."

Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?

Yes defiantly, thank you for all your support you have given me since I started and for release of this album, wouldn't be able to do it without my fans. To say thank you I would like to announce a tour I will be doing in the near future to celebrate the release of my new album."

Images:

I didn't like this image very much as the angle harry was standing at didn't fit my front cover well at all. I also did not like the lighting of this photo as it had a shadow to the side of harry.

I liked this image as harry was looking directly at the camera and was standing in a good position therefore I used this image for my front cover. I didn't like the background, therefore in photo shop I cut out the background and just had the image of harry.

I didn't like the angle of this photo, I also didn't like the shadow in this as well. The purple of the hoodie would have also clashed with my colour scheme. The zoom on this photo has not come out well, therefore this is another reason why i will not be using this photo.

Once again with this photo i didn't like the angle of the final photograph nor the shadow behind it. As well as this the colour of the hoodie would clash with final front cover. Harry was also looking down so I dont think was a suitable photo.

This photo was used in there final copy of the double page spread. I liked this photo as harry was looking at the camera and standing in a good position. For the double page spread I used photoshop to remove the background for this photo as I didn't like the background.

Codes and conventions

One convention of a pop magazine is the clothes the artist wears. Pop artists tend to wear bright and vibrant fashionable items of clothing. For example pop artist ksi wears a lot of clothing in his music videos that are bright and with lots of colour. Bearing this is mind I got the artist to dress in appropriate clothing one for the genre, and two to be appropriate for the target audience. This is so that if my target audience walks past the magazine it will attract them to pick it up.

Another convention for my magazine is the headline on the double page spread. The headline  gives a sense of realism and could be something the reader could relate to of associate the artist with. My main aim for the headline is to grab the attention and pull in my audience and really let them know what the artist is about. As well as this, the headline shows the reader what the article will be about and can infer what might be said in the interview.

The last convention for my pop magazine is that it has to look modern, bright, colourful and inviting. I did this buy using a bright and inviting colour scheme for my magazine, with two colours fading into each other. As well as this I used a range of san serif fonts which meets the desire of a pop magazine. Pop magazines tend to have a lot of blues and pinks, therefore I used both of those colours which fade into each other, so when possible consumers and looking for a pop magazine they will look at my magazine and pick it up.
