Legal Issues I could Face:
A legal issue I could face is the data protection act, to respect this act I will do the following rules on www.gov.uk:
. Tell this person how the data will be used
. Let this person have access to the data at any point
. Update any data if necessary
. Allow data to be erased (after a 1 year period)
.Let this person stop giving us data or get rid of their data entirely
An issue someone may have is on how I would be using their data. This data will not be shared with 3rd parties regardless of who they are as this goes against the law and or ethics as a company. The data will be safely stored on a data storage software, with the software itself having a no logs policy. This is a data storage software that cant keep track of the data that is stored within their software, meaning that we as a company and the person themselves are the only people able to access this data.
One more legal issue I could face is copyright issues. This is an issue as the images and content that I may use could have been created by someone else, and if I use this without their permission I could create an issue for myself and the magazine. What I could do to overcome this issue is to either ask permission to use their content for my magazine or I could make my own material for the magazine so I don't have the risk of getting a copy right strike, I could also copyright my own work so if anyone uses it without my permission I could put a copyright strike on them.
Another legal issue I could face is libel. Libel is a "published false a statement that is damaging to a persons reputation; a written defamation." This could become an issue when I write my body copy however anything that will be found from the interview or from a secondary source so there should be no defamation of the character in my magazine.
Ethical issues I could faceRegulatory bodies will have to agree that all my content is suitable for my target audience with the main two being ASA (Advertising Press Standards) and IPSO (Independent Press Standards Organisation)
ASA are regulatory bodies that focus on the suitability and accuracy of adverts. The first issue that may become is how suitable the advert for my audience. So therefore I will not be able to add any false information that diverts the purpose of my advert away from its true purpose. I will also need to watch out for what images I use in my adverts as I will not be able to add anything inappropriate or offensive so that my advert isn't declared unsuitable.
One ethical issue that I will need to avoid is using any offensive languages or images in my magazine that could offend or upset someone. Also I will have to avoid using any stereotypes in my magazine as this would cause more legal issues.
Another ethical issue that I will need to consider is age and target group consideration, this will mean that I will have to make sure that the artist I put in my magazine will be a good role model, with no previous past bad incidents or offensive remarks.
Potential issues may arise if I talk about any of these points made. This is because it will go against the code rulings of the regulatory body. To avoid any of these problems I will avoid talking about crime, grief, children, money and harassment. As well as this, I will not put any questions in the magazine that the artists doesn't want to answer because it invades their privacy too much. The only thing I will have to worry about will be the accuracy of the article. This will be resolved by using only information that artist give in the interview in the magazine, to avoid any accuracy issues.
