Task 4:(U21):Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions (P4, M3, D1)

 Questions and feedback

Where are you going to be selling your magazine?

So well give them to local newsagents and to local supermarkets, the first magazine we will send them a small amount of copies to see how well they sell in each store, so we can find which stores need the most and what stores need the least amount of copies to sell each time.

Do you think there is other places where a music magazine will sell well, perhaps somewhere music is played?

There's lots of music shops in Hertfordshire like hmv which I think would be a good place to sell the magazine as it will attract people who listen to music when the go in there.

How are you going to market your magazine?

So there will be a social media account which will post stories and posts on when and where the magazines are going to be sold. there will be posters round Hertfordshire like bus stops and places where a lot ofd people go so they can see a magazine is going to come out.

With the social media , have you thought of what platforms you are going to use?

Because I've said the main target audience is 14-22 I feel that Instagram and twitter will be the most suitable. because I feel if I use Facebook theres won't be as many younger people, whereas instagram and totter is what most younger people use.

Might Facebook be suitable for your older target audience?

Yeah so we'll have a facebook but there won't be updates as frequently as its only the secondary target audeince.

You mentioned interactions, is the plan that people interact through social media?

so there will be an email which will be featured  in the social media account. and the magazine which you can use to enter into the competitions.

Do you think your colour scheme is suitable and suitable for your target audience?

I think it is as there is lots of different shades of blue that stand out, swell as I didn't really think pop music has a specific colour, so that's why I am using blue and grey.

How can you make sure within the 14-22 year old bracket, you apply to both male and female audiences?

Well I feel by using a range of artists there will be peoples favourite artists to Weill attract everyone and by using neutral colours.

Is the online magazine something you will pay for?

With the yearly subscription price you get both the online edition and the physical copy.

Do you get anything extra with the subscription?

you get a digital copy so you do not have to carry the physical copy with you and you save money by subscribing.

How I will take on the feedback?

After pitching my ideas to an external media expert, I have been given feedback which I will be taking into consideration and some I will not be taking on.

A piece of feedback I was given from the media expert was wether they thought my colour scheme was suitable for a pop magazine, as I have chosen a blue and grey colour scheme. The media expert said blue and grey didn't scream pop to her and thinks that it should be a brighter more vibrant colour. The feedback I was given has affected my final decision one what colour I shall make my magazine. After doing some more research on pop magazines I have found that there is a lot of bright oranges and pinks used, therefore I am changing my colour scheme to a pink and grey instead of blue and grey as I think that is a more suitable colour scheme.

Another piece of feedback I was given was whether on not the customer/ reader should get anything as a bonus with the purchase of a yearly subscription. I will not be changing my subscription plans with this feedback as I already think the subscription is very good for its price. With the subscription you get the physical copy of the magazine plus a digital copy sent to as-well. you also are saving money but purchasing this subscription, therefore I am not changing my subscription offer even after the media experts feedback.

The media expert questioned whether Facebook would be a suitbale social media platform for my secondary target audience. After this feedback I have decided that as well as using Instagram and twitter for my primary target audience, I will also use Facebook so that the secondary target audience gets all the same information that the primary target audience gets. I will also take into consideration that Facebook may be a good platform for all of my target audiences combined as Facebook is a very popular social media platform.
